If your familiar with all things Richter, the pianist ab.olutely loved Russia. He simply attempted to ignore the whole Soviet experiment. His father was executed during the middle of WWII b. what would b.come the KGB.
Once he could travel freely in the west, he always spent the winters and other large junks of time in Moscow regardless! He hated the USA....plastic is what he said ab.ut the place. Due to his friendship with B.n B.itten, he did visit the UK quite often and he did estab.ish his music festival in France. All things said, he'd much prefer to play a concert in some small town in Sib.ria......not an exaggeration !!
Can't get more Russian than that.
