The lower part of the cartridge is a completely metal-enclosed body in the form of a rectangular box, with a threaded hole in the top. A tiny (1.5mm?) machine screw, hidden under the label atop the plastic carrier, attaches it to the metal body.
The female thread in the body is not so strong, as I found out. Pulling off a slightly stubborn stylus the other day, the thread stripped and the cart came apart, much to my surprise.
I mixed a tiny bit of epoxy (JB Weld) and dabbed it VERY sparingly on the screw and reassembled it, hopefully not to getting epoxy on any vital innards of the cartridge. It now looks completely normal, the bond is sound, and looks square and plumb.
Any cautions, suggestions?
