RE: modern equivalent

Well heck, you can buy a NEW "Fidelity Research" arm made by the same guy, branded with his name, Ikeda. I think there might be better new alternatives out there though- I found the Clearaudio arms pretty damn fine for an almost-sane prices. Beautifully machined in the fatherland, with the techy looks of something the Engineer on the Enterprise might use to stabilize the dilithium crystals.

In this class, you might want to consider an SME if it suits your cartridge choice. Proverbial performer and I never hear an SME setup that sounded *lousy* - it delivers what the cart is putting down.

Hearing the difference between tonearms it's almost impossible to get a fair apples/apples comparison since there are 1000 variables, unless you plug them into your own system on your own table --which ain't too easy to arrange.

I think you might have to spend some dough to get a modern replacement for the Micro-Seki, it has quite a reputation from back-in-the-day. If you want that look, check the VPI Classic 4, a tick under $9large! Yowie. But I speak out of school. I'm a dyed-in-the-fur DD Bear...
