Intervention Records is a relatively new reissue house that appears to be focused, at this point, on releases from the 1970s to the late 1990s. The two albums here, Everclear's Sparkle and Fade from 1995 and So Much for the Afterglow from 1997 were both remastered using hi-res files by Kevin Grey at Cohearent Audio, pressed at RTI with really nice tip-on gatefold jackets by Stoughton Printing. Images are sharp and crisp and beat the CD covers by a mile (duh!).
Sonically both of these reissues better the CD versions by a wide margin. There is actually depth to the soundstage so no more listening to the cardboard cutouts from the CD. Dynamics, as they are, are greater, though they may be limited by the original producer, the intent of the musician is still clear.
One nitpick is the inner sleeves are some type of plastic and not rice paper sleeves that I prefer.
Overall these are a substantial improvement over the CD. The 180g pressing are perfect, flat and silent with good centering.
Science is the great antidote to the poison of enthusiasm and superstition.
