I made an arm board of acrylic epoxied to lead sheet, both found on ebay. Drilling was easy. I started with a small bit and graduated to larger bits, using a handheld electric drill, keeping the speed and pressure low. It also cut easily with a hack saw, and the cuts trimmed nicely with a Stanley rasp then sandpaper. The result is extremely non-resonant. It's one of the easiest DIY projects I've done, and the only project in memory that came out right the first time.
