Yup, I remember (rightly or wrongly) most 1960's single LPs running $3.98 to $4.98. That would be $29.66 to $37.11 in today's dollars.
Back then the LP business was huge, and today it's tiny, so we should expect higher prices than just what inflation would indicate. Yes, they are expensive, especially to younger people who have come to expect music to be free, or very close to free.
