Not sure how useful this comparison is.
------------------------------
We can only hear the files of the DAC samples by processing them through our own DACs. So one cannot tell if one's preference is simply because the sonic attributes of that DAC complement one's own.
Likewise the worst DAC in your opinion from this test may simply mean it's the one least compatible sonically with your own DAC.
Hearing the DACs "naked" as intended may produce entirely different
results.
This along the lines of my progression along the audio path over 50 years
where I have often found that my least favourtite disc on one set up is my favourite on another.
Its difficult to make vaild comparisons
----------
My concern with the comparisons is the synergy that may exist between Mikey's table, cart, etc...system and the converter.
If it was just between the converter and my DAC, to me that's the point of the comparison.
I have listened using 3 DACs. I use a Tascam US 322 as an external soundcard with headphones. Differences...barely audible.
Playing from an sd card using the Tascam DA 3000 and headphones...differences apparent.
Playing from my music server through an Audio Note 2.1 Sig. and maggies the result is even more apparent.
It's a system. Everything matters. I'd like to see more of these tests. I want to hear equipment in my system. The equipment is not available within reasonable traveling distance. Is this a viable alternative? I don't know. Need more data.
