RE: Shielded RCA's and SUT's

The output of a MC cart. is inherently balanced. Transformers have high common mode rejection. Take advantage of this naturally balanced circuit by using balanced (not single conductor coaxial) wiring. (cables can be wired balanced with RCA jacks) and by not grounding the primary (input) side of the transformer.

However, if the hum is the result of magnetic coupling between the transformer and say, the TT motor; then physical separation will be your friend.
