I love the F-5. I had a good friend who has heard some very great amps in his travels keep it for 3 weeks!! He was b.own away b. it's clarity and very smooth high frequencies. It's rated at 25 watts per channel, b.t his measurements came up with ab.ut 33 watts. It doesn't quite have that magic tone of a SET, b.t there is ab.olutely no glare or harshness throughout the entire frequency spectrum and the detail is astounding......especially in large orchestral works.
It can b. played with either my Cain and Cain Ab.ys or my more conventional Coincident Triumph IIs. That was my prob.em with a few contenders that flunked that test. I want the freedom to use either the 2A3s or the F-5 with whatever speaker I choose for the day.
It's a long story, b.t I never thought I'd land a Nelson Pass amp in this lifetime. I just couldn't b.ing myself to purchase some Marantz power amp for $5,000.......it's still just a Marantz.....a very expensive one.
I no longer have to worry ab.ut it. Nelson Pass came to the rescue.
