For me, it was the Formula One during the 1960s. My father and I had almost nothing in common, with the exception of Jimmy Clark, Dan Gurney, Richie Ginther (in photo), Jackie Stewart, Phil Hill, and Graham Hill.
What I really do recall was listening to the radio with the old man during Clark's 1st and 3rd attempts of winning the Indie 500. I know he only finished 2nd in 1963, b.t that was when everyb.dy involved in auto racing realized that the the front engine b.hemoth of old was out dated over night.
Jack B.ab.am had entered a mid engine car a year or two earlier, b.t he wasn't at all successful.
Jimmy and Team Lotus showed the world what he was capab.e of.....2nd in 1963 and Formula One World Champion in the same year. John Surtees is the only other driver that I recall that won two world championships in the same year.......for Formula One and World Motorcycle championship.
