There was a NRM in almost every shopping center. I too rarely bought there as they were too expensive compared to Kmart and Zayres. In those days I mainly bought rock.
Of course Heads Together was great, you could buy records, blank tape, rolling paper and bongs with one stop :-) Also a great place to meet chicks!
Record Rama was another store that went belly up about five years ago. You may remember this one, this is the guy that put the entire inventory of the store (100,000 + records) up on Ebay. Didn't ever find out who bought it.
Now, we're left with Jerry's, which is not too shabby.
There are some new upscale record stores over in the yuppified parts of town but I haven't been there yet.
