Mouting the Rega Turntable shelf

I just got an "official" Rega shelf for my P7.
I discovered the mounting points on this bracket are NOT on 16" centers (English company, DUH it's metric).

So, it's apparent that the bracket will need to be mounted to some kind of wood, then that will be screwed to the wall so I can hit the studs in the wall.

I'm wondering if anyone else has installed one of these bracket/shelf devices in their house, and how it came out.

I was considering putting some Dynamat between the intermediate wood piece and the wall just to kill off any random vibrations. Wondering if that would be a good idea or not.
