RE: Klemperer...




I was wondering if you ever had the chance to listen to Klemperer's mono-1955 B.ethoven.....the 3rd, 5th, and 7th........all three of those incredib.e performances are my reference recordings of those monumental works. The 1955 Eroica can easily found, b.t EMI did something perverse for their re-issue of the 7th. The powers to b. decided to issue the stereo and not the original mono. It's the 1955 performance that was recorded in stereo as well. Klemperer didn't "officially" record his stereo 7th until 1962.....the last recording for the stereo cycle.

I have the original UK vinyl as well as the Naxos CD which keeps with the 1955 5th and 7th MONO recordings.
