I can deal with it but it still amazes me

A few weeks ago I brought home a nicely restored Garrard Lab 80 MKII with a a Shure Premier(M95ED) cart. I upgraded the stylus to a Jico SAS. That's it. Well, I have been simply blown away with how everything sounds. So blown away that I have completely stopped using my tricked out Scoutmaster with Lyra Delos cart. I just like the way the Garrard sounds much more. I have read many many posts of over the years here and elsewhere how less expensive, vintage items provided the listener with a more musical experience than much more expensive components. Well, I could understand the sentiment but hadn't experienced it first hand. Now I have. I use a modern phono pre(Avid Pulsus) and a modern pre amp(Decware CSP2, although I have been also using a Dynaco PAS-2)but all my other gear is vintage(Heathkit W-5 mono blocks, Klipsch Cornwall speakers) so I don't know if there some synergy going on. It could simply boil down to preference. I know that Garrard is not giving me a completely accurate, neutral playback, but maybe that's the reason I like it so much. Anyway, thought I'd post my thoughts here. I don't know what will become of the Scoutmaster. I will be "upgrading" the Garrard with a Shure M97xE w/ Jico SAS stylus shortly so I'm excited to hear what that will bring to the performance.

Anybody else have similar experiences like this?
