OK, Boys and girls, the PRAT is back along with better and faster bass response. Was it the tubes or the mat? I will know soon enough. I am giving the Pope/Amperex 12AX7s a week, then I will try my Mazada chrome plates, them my Mullard box plates.
The tubes I had in yesterday were Groove Tube "Mullard copies" or so they said. I should have left the TungSol reissues in it since that was what I was listening to when I just quit using the system, 3 or 4 years ago.
I just spent about five hours listening to the "B" sides of what I listened to yesterday and some Jacintha, Jennifer Warnes and 45 rpm copies of Cowboy Junkies "Trinity Sessions" and Patricia Barber " Cafe Blue" . It sounds like a totally different TT. Where it was just plain music yesterday, it is now better than my CD player like before. You can hear the room where recorded more than with the CD player and the decay is as if its live.
