Carbon bristle record brushes

I just discovered something I thought was really interesting (so please tell me if I'm late to this party, so I don't embarrass myself further ;~) but I just got through testing three well-known carbon bristle record brushes for electrical continuity from the bristles to the aluminum handle. And only one of them (the Hunt) passed the test!

Note: for those to whom it's not apparent why I wanted to do this, it's because for several years now, I've connected the (aluminum) handle of my carbon brush(es) with a long flexible wire (like a voltmeter test lead wire) to a ground somewhere, the better to drain away static charges from the record, just before play.

Anyhow, I discovered on close examination, that only with the Hunt brush was the aluminum handle actually in contact with the carbon bristles/fibers. I had been using my favorite (for other reasons) DECCA 2+2 brush hooked up this way, but it really didn't seem to work any better than my other carbon brushes which I just handheld. I guess when it comes to (any kind of) contact, intimacy is everything ;~)

So, am I late to the party?
