It takes a less that a minute to change or flip a record especially if you already know whats spinning next. I have kept platters spinning a time or two especially when playing stacks of 45's, but not for any reason other than laziness. As far as sonic benefits this would be rediculous. If a motor cools off that fast then simply leave the record spin a few minutes before dropping the arm. '
