Try an Audible Illusions Modulus 2C or 2D. $450-$750 used. I've had them in and out of my system for the past 20 years. You can use it as a stand alone phono-stage through the tape-output, you might even like the linestage too. Not a ton of gain but will work with HOMC cartridges. I think you'll be quite shocked with the sound compared to the black cube. IMO.
