VTA is best set by ear (start with manufacturer's recommendations, if available). A good tool is simply a 3X5 lined note card folded on its length so that the bottom of the card can sit on the platter and the lines are exposed when you place it behind your tonearm, giving you a reference (make sure you make the fold square to the sides of the card).I believe you'll need to get an alignment gauge and a scale to zero in your stylus pressure, plus some good micro screw drivers and, my favorite tool, a forceps or a small needle nose pliers.
Believe me, I have fingers the size of knockwursts...if I can do it, you can too!
