I'm not taking sides on this yet; I've just had a personal hot button on people using the word "cult" ever since a friend of mine was kidnapped by a couple of those criminal, psychotic, slimy bastards who used to run the Cult Awareness Network (he was unharmed and the kidnappers were later arrested). The idea that a properly engineered plinth can remove audible rumble from an idler drive turntable is certainly controversial based on the physics of the situation, but that's not my point. Maybe it's my science background, but I learned long ago not to dismiss someone else's experimental results until I have duplicated and evaluated the procedure myself (or at least been able to obtain results from those who did). Why not wait and finish the project before you pass judgement? It ceratinly won't cost you much more money since you already have the turntable. Then post your results, which would be much more useful than simply stating that the claims are false without the supporting empirical evidence (and I'm not talking about the fact that idler wheel drives cause rumble, we already know that). I'll certainly do the same.
