Simon,
It's easy to critique a going-on twenty year old design by contemporary standards and fashion.
Regardless of their merits, contemporary Michell "innovations" pale in comparison to the design creativity and clarity of vision that Mr.Gammon's Transcriptors held over the timid and pedestrian competition of its own era.
Adrian's defense of his Michell Orbe demeans the heritage of it's own origins and that of the excellence in craftsmanship and boldness of its forebear.
To attack those beautiful and musical sculptures by inference of the company's eventual closure neglects the fact that Mr. Gammon and his Transcriptors had enviable sales success for some time and that Transcriptors redefined the standards of the possible and the desirable for many of todays most highly esteemed turntable designers and for legions of vinyl enthusiasts.
The Michell Engineering turntables of today would not exist had it not been for the pioneering work of Transcriptors. It is a shame that Michell neglects to give credit where credit is due.Best,
Ken
