You are correct, but I may also be right...

You are correct that a longer tonearm should generate less skating vs a shorter tonearm all things being equal. What I am talking about it the amount of anti-skating force required to compensate and applied BEHIND the tonearm pivot (ala JMW). With a longer tonearm, you have a longer tonearm and even though the skating force may be less, it acts over a longer moment arm and MAY require more anti-skating (more meaning the actual value of the anti- skating applied). I can't say this is true for any particular arm/cart combo, but my very dated engineering education tells me it COULD be the case with some tonearms.
