Interesting analysis and I haven't studied it in much detail but it seems to assume perfect cooling of the stylus itself. Is that right? After all, a spot of vinyl is only in contact with the stylus for a very short period of time but the stylus is in contact with the vinyl for 20+ minutes and has to get rid of heat somehow. How hot does the stylus get and how fast? Can you offer a quantitative argument why this effect should be negligible?Eric H
