RE: 'Surrealistic Pillow' I've been meaning to buy that ever since it came out

I always thought that band was singularly talented but some of the overly dramatic stuff, that were excellent and timely expressions of meaningful concepts, got so overplayed , that I completely lost any purchasing interest. Now things are different.

with all the remastering done to re issue old recordings, one might assume that major acts, like the kind that get reissued, were universally assigned to bumbling idiots who took a quick break from mopping floors to cut a master, despite records being a major form of entertainment at the time

as far as I can tell the only technical improvements today are better vinyl formulations, everything mechanical in the production done today was available then. I am far from promoting that improvement is never possible, or even a bad thing, but only a collector would value a slight volume change in a part of an ensemble, that I would consider only a small matter of taste, significant enough to purchase a new record just to hear it. particularly when the artists involved were alive when the original records were issued, unlike classical where sometimes the notations on the score are open to be interpreted in various ways.
