didn't know it used a ball race. the arm I played with, a Keith Monks also used a ball race which was why I mass loaded it knowing the point wouldn't be dulled.
By the way the Keith Monks lifted of with no disconnections. The arm had 4 points that fitted into mercury baths to conduct electricity signal. That's probably why it went out of production. Besides the open baths of mercury, the mercury was not a great conductor of electricity and when low output moving coils came out the mercury was a disadvantage.
