I have a Thorens TD-124 Mk I turntable with an SME 3012 arm.
I made a quickie plinth out of 3/4 Home Depot birch plywood some time ago just to get it in something so I could use it.
I am now exploring making a better plinth and would like to hear opinions on what the best approach would be.
I understand that typically, if the plinth is solid, the mushrooms are not used. If the plinth is a "frame" type, open inside, the mushrooms are used. Is that much correct?
I am toying with the idea of making a solid type plinth of either MDF or 3/4-inch baltic birch plywood. Any thoughts about these materials? Certainly the MDF would be a lot cheaper!
