A few years ago, in audiophile circles, you might remember that it was cool to tell people that your system was of such high resolve that you could 'HEAR THE BRUSH WHEN IT WAS DOWN.' Well, I saw quite a few of those systems at that time. Along with the brush, you could also hear tons of surface noise, worn inner grooves and a sound to make a CD/SACD lover cringe. They sounded nothing like music in any way, shape or form. These people had put large dollars into their systems. Of course, it passed quickly because they went on to another more expensive cartridge and we didn't have to hear that they heard the damn brush anymore. For the record, the brush cleans the record before and after the needle. I also think in a long arm without anti-skate, it helps (to a minimum degree) with anti-skate. Thank goodness I can't hear the brush.
