Everywhere I read in the archives suggests that Rega did not use the Stevenson's method either when designing their protractor. Even the author of the free proctactor himself was unsure.I just did the same exact test. I set up my RB600 to an exact overhang and alignment with the Rega protractor, then I used the vinyl engine one just to see. It was slightly different.
No doubt that the vinyl engine protractor is much easier to use. However, my conclusion leads me to agree with the rest in that the two protractors are in fact based on a "slightly" different method and theory.
