The platter and motor are a servo controlled direct drive unit salvaged from a Marantz 6170 that had other issues. I made the base from laminated pieces of 2x4 scrap wood. The tonearm is made from oak, items from the hardware store. It's a unipivot using a polished jewel quality stainless steel pivot and matching sapphire bearing. The cartridge is a wood body Grado Platinum. Sound quality and performance is excellent, easily to 'audiophile' standards.
