RE: Ortofon upgrade

seems like I once herd the primary difference between OM-10,20,30,40 is the stylus and they are interchangeable. I didn't do what you tried but I have put a sty-30 into a Ortofon cartridge, popular with SL-1200's DJ's and it works fine.
