i'm a VERY long way away from even beuilding my new "starter system" with philharmonic audio mini philharmonitors, a laptop, a sabaj Da3 DAC, a breeze audio TPA3116 class D amp & little dot tube preamp followed by upgrades as i'm still looking for work in one of the worst economies in the country and just had my cellphone stolen which makes searching harder.vinyl will be the last step in the food chain. i'll mostly be using a table to 24/96 my out of print hip hop discs, to check out the half dozen boxes of circa 1960s easy listening & pop discs someone threw out, and maybe revisit my new wave discs... particularly the near mint cars etc. cutouts i picked up cheap after vinyl "died". i'd also like to pick up a few old school & more recent dance discs that aren't available on CD too.
since the 80s, i've always wanted a 1200 because they had the best specs up to 3-4 times their price, and became a linear tracker convert after reading about it in audio.
you just can't get a blank table for under $2,000! that's a crime as far as i'm concerned. i'm looking at the pioneer PLX-1000 myself as i'd rather start with new than someone else's problem which is common buying used in my experience.
i'm surprised that hardly anyone will review the terminator. it really sounds like a giant killer of epic proportions.
once i have some disposable income, i'm planning on completing my lifetime system with a PLX-1000 (but MIGHT go the technics route as they have slightly better specs) with a trans-fi terminator mounted flush on a heavy machined billet "arm board", dynavector DV20X2 (i'm in the speed, detail, neutral, airy, transparent camp), a funk firm mat, a benedict audio (MM) hothead pre-amp and a sound traditions MC-10 step up transformer with a VPI record cleaner.
i just can't see investing any more than that, which won't exactly be cheap, on a system i'll be using mostly one time for every disc i own.
BTW... i have the pic of your table posted at trans-fi. i was kinda disappointed that you beat me to the giant killer punch.
