Some people get offended too easily.That particular BMW has 6 cylinders, and is a four stroke internal combustion engine.
6 cylinders times 4 strokes per cylinder does technically result in a 24 stroke engine. That isn't normally how they are referred to in conversation.It's an analogy and a bit of a irony, I'm assuming.
Many, if not all, of these Papst hystersis synchronous motors seem to appear to be delta 3 phase wound. For example, an 8 pole per phase, three phase Papst hysterisis synchronous motors would technically be a 24 pole motor.
If what I've learned on this thread is true and Papst would denote this motor type, in its own part numbering scheme, with an "8" and not a "24". There seem to be some who would call them 8 pole motors and not 24 pole motors.
If those who refer to total number of poles just can't stand to be around those who refer to the number of poles per phase, how will there ever be peace?
