Just read your post again more carefully

I agree with what you said about the DC resistance - that would tell if the motor is 3 phase or not.

But why do you think the original motor is 3 phase when it has only 3 wires.

The Papst shown below with a similar part number has 4 wires and is a clearly a 3 phase motor.
