...that I wasn't using other than the Rek to pay for the Prime. I was going to sell the Rek but just couldn't bring myself to it. Plus I have a 5 year old and suspect having a back up record player is a good idea!
I liked the Rek better than the technics but only barely. Its the dynamics that get me.
I still love the technics and suspect for the under $1K price range it is hard if not impossible to beat. I recommend it to anyone in that budget. Great table and I had a lot of fun with it.
The Prime outclasses the technics hard though. I guess I never heard them head to head but I had the technics long enough to know how it sounds.
Compared to the Rek I think I like the Rek better. Its so musical and addicting. But that is by no means a knock at the technics! A good idler drive table has an explosive and rhythmic sound that just can't be duplicated for many multiples of its price.
