Ok I don't disagree with the point you are making but I don't agree with your comment -

I've owned around a dozen under $400 cartridges and only one, the ClearAudio Arum Beta, struck me as being worthwhile on an really good TT/Arm combo. All the other low priced (under $400 cartridges) I tried, including denon, dynavector, grado, sumiko, arcam, etc. were clearly and obviously limiting factors in the performance achieve with the nicer turntables. So much in fact they made the more expensive TTs hardly worth the money.
I'm thinking the entry level for good phono cartridges starts at around $600.
Of course many of those under $400 phono cartridges can perform wonderfully on moderately price decent turntable systems.
I'd rather have a well setup Rega P3 on a wall mount with a $600 phono cartridge and $1500 phono section than $3000 TT with a Rega RB200 arm with an under $400 cartridge and a lessor phono section.
