I was selling audio equipment in the 80's, and it was a very common practice to put expensive cartridges on inexpensive tables. My opinion then is the same as it is now. I think it is a waste of money. You just are not going to be able to maximize a $700-$800 cartridge on a basic table so why bother? The Shure is fine for now. Wait until you can afford to do it right. If you are short on cash and want to move up, look at used tables. $700 should by you a major step up that you will be able to hear, even with the Shure. I am using an M97xe on an LP12 and getting very nice sound!
