Since this has turned into a 'he put an expensive cart on a cheap table' thread, I should comment further.
As I said in the original post, the Argo was orginally on a P3-24. It sounded much better than the Ortofon OM-30 I had on there before (Ortofon + Rega == bright in my system).
It also sounds much better than the OM-30 on the P1. Phono stage is a PS Audio GCPH. And if you wanna gasp some more, the ICs between PS and my amp and/or Korg DSD recorder are $1200 Nirvana SX 1.5m pair.
The reason my system gets unbalanced is that when I upgrade I tend to focus on a single component until that component satisfies me. So I go vertically up the line till the positives outweigh the negatives in a given component. That happened with the Argo, and also with the Nirvana ICs. (which, btw, I paid about 1/2 the retail price for both as I bought used).
So now I need a table to catch up with the rest of my rig -- hence my post. Obviously I'm not arguing that the P1 is a great choice for the cart, or I wouldn't be asking for table recommendations. But I'll tell you they sure don't sound BAD together.
