And music signals are comprised of ever changing periodic waveforms. For as long as I can remember stereos have carried specifications indicating frequency responses as being between 20 and 20kz. A freguency is, last time I looked, a periodic signal

There may be some truth here, but given the limits of human hearing, and the realities of vinyl recordings (ie. - normally they don't have much hifrequency info) I find this argument somewhat of a strawman. Given the above realities there's no reason for me to think a well produced and mastered CD won't sound as good as an LP.

Like I said there's good arguments why some might prefer vinyl to digital - but I'm convinced that Nyquist is not one of them.
