I think the easiest way to defend your position is to reinforce it with action. Buy Lp's and listen to them. If people ask why, you can tell them that you prefer them, the sound, the artwork and text size, etc. You don't often get bugged about why you like a particular whiskey or brew over another do you? I mean, who really cares? Only you have to drink or listen to it.
Generally people that argue digital superiority either don't have a clue or do and are simply pulling your chain. Let 'em listen to whatever they want. If someone shows genuine curiosity and is not trying to debate anything to make themselves feel larger, then invite them to listen. They may not like it as much as you do. That may not even be possible!
