but the P3 is dandy! I have just ordered a P5 for myself after using a P2 and then a P3 for some years and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. I have had a lot of suspended decks including a couple of Thorens and I feel the same way about them as MAS. They can be made nearly as nice as a budget Rega with the addition of a great arm and a load of work, but they are still hard to keep tuned and the suspensions can get excited easily. The Regas have performed flawlessly for me and the better units just keep adding refinements. I had my ears set on getting a P9 at some point, but it looks as if I might be getting old by the time I could afford one of those, so the P5 was too much to resist!
Rega tables are very complete and as such there is just not as much to talk about or to fiddle with later on. Get a Linn or a Thorens and you will never run out of adjustment workouts. The Regas just sit there perfectly stable until you slap another disc on them and then they perform the same way every time. I find that an advantage personally as I have plenty of old tables that I have to service every week without needing to wrench on my own after work. Still it's exciting getting a new piece of gear even if it does look similar to the last. Once I bolt on the old cartridge, it'll just sit there and wait for me to get home like the last one!
