Re: Thorens TD150 vs Rega Planar 3?

Fred,
My Magnepan has a 200 gram counterweight, so the arm is fairly heavy. It works great, but the springs are modern Linn LP12 ones. That is one alternative for using a heavier arm, within reason of course, because the Linn springs require seven pounds to compress where the older TD150 springs require only four. The first thing one will notice is that the amount of bounce is far less, but so is the sensitivity to footfalls. The sound remains great. That's the wonderful thing about the TD150. You can tweak it endlessly. :)
