The verticle compliance (if I understand this correctly) is a far more important specification when considering the cartridge's ability to track records that are less than totally flat. It also can be the explanation to why a severe verticle take-off occurs on some occasions. I've never had a 103 exhibit such behavior so its specs can be taken with a grain of salt.That said, I have owned a few 103D's for 20+ years and a 103M for the last 10 months or so. Those cartridges installed in the same arm are far better trackers than a 103R that I have. I know there are more than a few variables here, but the two aformentioned 103's are higher compliance cartridges and also track at a lower VTF.
It would be a nice experiment to try a 103 or 103R in several arms of differing effective masses and do a torture test to see how it performs.
