3 choices?

Hi Phil!

Well, I definitely see more than three choices on your list. I cannot speak for the Garrard and Thorens turntables, but the EMT 927/930 and the later models 948/950 do not have much in common. They are very different beasts. Ergo four choices. The later ones have direct drives and are full of electronics.

Chosing between the Garrard or Thorens and the EMT is IMO more of a lifestyle decision. The EMTs are not turntables, they are furniture. In their consoles they are huge and heavy and take up a lot of space. If you have the space and money wait until you see a nice 948/950. These models are still state of the art and I bet they beat many or most of the current belt drives out there, but of course you also have to invest much more money. And parts are still available.

You cannot go wrong with a late model EMTs. And if you really don't like it you can sell it again without losing money.
Check out the EMT-Profi website.
Have fun,
Ben
