RE: Lenco L78 vs Dual 1229...which has a better stock arm? Differences in sound between the two?

I got a 1219 recently(with a perfect AT15XE for 10 euro total :-)). I have been spinning with modded Lenco's for 3 years or so. The 1219 is very similar to the 1229, they're the flagship models for the 1200 idler wheel drive range.
If you want to use the TT in stock form get the Dual. The stock arm is way better and it sounds better and more quiet in stock form compared to the Lenco. The automatics on the Dual can give you trouble as well as the speed change/pitch control mechanism. A little WD40 and some technical skills come in handy. For both models, check the main bearing, idler wheel, mechanics, motor, tone arm bearings. Indeed the rubber V blocks on the Lenco arm are a weak point, i don't like that arm period.
If you want to do a total rebuild job and use the TT only, get the Lenco. The platter is heavier, the bearing is better, the Dual has a hollow axis for switching between single play and changer. Remove the automatics, make an electrical on/off switch for the motor, build a big plinth etc. Do the search.

"The torture never stops"
