Noticeable improvements in clarity when you remove the drum head (the bottom plate). Always remember that upon first listen when bass is improved, it often sounds like "less" bass. It isn't, it is "better" bass. Tighter and more tuneful. There are, of course, many bass notes. Many systems present one note bass...or bass that simply sounds like BASS, not a musical instrument that produces bass notes.
