The screw that was sheared off in the photos of the arm is one of a pair used to hold the contact block in place. It appears that someone tried opening up this part of the arm and with a Philip screw driver sheared of the head of the rearmost screw. These were usually glued in place to avoid loosening.
Bearings, unless abused are pretty good.
