Again, I cannot quantify this but my impression is that subtle speed variations can be heard that may not be noticed on a strobe.
From my experience, I upgraded from a Well Tempered tt to a Kuzma Stabi which included an outboard power supply/regulator for the motor. There were of course other design differences but I noted a cleaner sound, particularly noticeable with sustained piano cords with the Kuzma. Both tables appeared the same with strobe disc checks.
