Rim drive tables have better focus, dynamics, sense of timing, and bass authority...worst case: a touch forward, possibly a bit hard and analytical or powerful yet lean.
Belt drive tables are warmer softer around the edges; rounder sounding... worst case: blurry, with spongy bass and boxy sound.

I don't know what fair is, but your impressions are totally wrong.
No problem, when it is your impression, but I think, in the Quality of your reproduction chain is something totally wrong or you don't know what is good or not.
