RE: Stanton 681EEE tracking problems. New stylus? Replace with Grado? Sumiko? Shelter? Need help..thanks!

For the most part, I think you're limited by the turntable and the Pro-ject arm, which, although good, won't allow you to reap the benefits of some really great cartridges. However, if you basically like the OM20 you might step up to the 30 stylus, though not cheap, gives me (in my system) all the attributes which you described as desirable, or a qualified recommendation for the 2M Red or Blue because I've been told they're similar but more dynamic than the OM series and easily compatible with that Pro-ject arm. Your experience with the 681EEE mirrors my memory of it, too--I didn't keep it very long because of the irritating sibilance it produced on musical peaks and in the inner grooves. I know there are adherents in here but I've never re-visited. One more reasonably priced cartridge I'd try because of inmates' recommendations is the AT120E. In any case you shouldn't have to spend too much for a musical cartridge--there's a lot of good ones that aren't too expensive.
