Wow, lots of questions. I really only have two answer for you:

Peter Lederman at SoundSmith (US)

I own nine Stantons, including two 681EEEs. I've sent 3 Stanton carts to SoundSmith for tier 2 retips (ruby cantilever/nude contact line stylus) including one of the 681EEE's. The retip doesn't convert the cart into something it's not. It just brings out the absolute best of what the cart has to offer. Remember, too, if need be, these guys can tweak the suspension as well. I am over the top ecstatic with the results I've had thus far and recommend both these guys without hesitation.
